About Left Bucket Theory
A framework born from real conversations about love, emotional intelligence, and what it means to truly connect with others.
Our Mission
Left Bucket Theory exists to give families, educators, and therapists a simple, visual framework for teaching emotional intelligence. We believe that understanding how love works — how we give it, receive it, and sometimes lose it — is the most important lesson anyone can learn.
Too often, emotional intelligence is treated as something abstract or complicated. We make it concrete: two buckets, ten daily points, a glass box, and the holes that need healing. These four concepts give people of all ages a shared language for talking about feelings, relationships, and personal growth.
The Four Concepts
The Two Buckets
Everyone carries two invisible buckets — one for giving love (Left Bucket) and one for receiving love (Right Bucket). True fulfillment requires both to be full.
The 10 Points System
Each day you have 10 Love Points and 10 Time Points to distribute. Being intentional about where they go builds healthier relationships.
The Glass Box
Everyone lives inside a glass box. The inside is smudged by what others did to you; the outside by what you did to them. Both sides need cleaning.
Holes in Buckets
Trauma and hurt create holes in our buckets. No matter how much love goes in, it drains out. Healing the holes comes before filling the bucket.
